Lee Hwa, Taiwan. Thank you so much for the heavenly experience you gave my daughter and me at the the Barn Gallery. It has world class design with amazing Art decor. It will be forever in my memory of the Lopez Island visit. Happy holidays and welcome to Taiwan. December 2017
Karen Lucas & Jon Gissel, Seattle, WA. We had a wonderful weekend staying at the Barn Gallery on Lopez Island . We arrived down the road through beautiful evergreen trees that open up to the Barn Gallery surrounded by bamboo in pots. The lights illuminated the beautiful wooden walkway, with the wooden rain tank to the left and the grand front door to the right; we downloaded the app and what fun to open the door with a swipe of the phone . I do however suggest you download the app prior to coming.
We stayed in the Bamboo suite with a beautiful Asian armoire, Kimonos, and small windows in the wall above the headboard, with bamboo outside as the natural shades.
The artwork display continues in the bedroom and even in the bathroom with the copper paperclip for towels. Did I mention the house is heated with radiant heat in the floor, which I love, especially in the bathroom.
With the Bento box of goodies, some things we brought with us we had enough to make a lovely first dinner. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. I just had to open a few drawers to find things!
In the morning we really got to enjoy the full wall of glass doors that looks out to the yard with artwork, trees, and the water beyond. While three dear had breakfast, we had fresh croissants baked in the convention oven that were perfect, along with the yummy preserves from the Bento box..
There was a cookbook on the desk that I enjoyed and read about the farms on the island. We then headed out to a self-serve at Horse Drawn Farm for our dinner fixings; amazing grass-fed beef, and vegetables. We finished out our dinner shopping at local store Blossom Grocery. We of course enjoyed the small bookstore in town too. Dinner was amazing as my husband is a chef..
We can only imagine how beautiful the Barn Gallery will be to visit in the spring and summer with the glass doors open to the deck, ocean breezes, sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the deck after an afternoon at the farmer’s market, hiking or being on the water. We’’ll be back for sure in the summer. December 2017
Stephen & Ruth Fearnley, Oxford, UK. Your guest house was unlike anything we have so far experienced. We are both rather conventional people and so your high-tech dwelling took us rather by surprise. We felt very welcomed on our arrival after a lovely drive through the island and then through your woods.
We really enjoyed the garden (with visiting deer) and the outlook over the sea towards San Juan island. I enjoyed watching a sea eagle catching some prey and then swimming with it towards shore.
The remote control of the lighting was very innovative and would hugely appeal to the modern generation who do everything by smart phone. We are still finding our way with modern technology!
We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again when we are next in Washington. We appreciated being able to stay at the Barn Gallery prior to you opening for guests in Summer of 2018. October 2017
Melissa Galt, Atlanta, GA. I had the privilege of seeing the Barn Gallery when it was in the design stage and not yet under construction. Now complete, it is every bit as exceptional as I expected from the principals of INCLINEDESIGN. The setting is breathtaking, with eagles flying past the bluff and deer nibbling their way up to the decks. I observed both seals playing and whales cruising in the waters around the island.
It’s deliciously peaceful, luxuriously appointed and while you can work effectively, why would you want to with the most divine distraction of Mother Nature at your doorstep. It is also the perfect place to embark on day-trip adventures to the other islands, exploring local artists (great talent abounds), and of course, learning about sustainable design from two of the experts. Can’t wait to return, the hospitality is unbeatable, and experience unforgettable. Don’t miss out on the Barn Gallery. July 2017
Nick Kellet, Kelowna, BC. So proud to be the 1st visitors to the OEX Club BARN GALLERY. We just loved the open contemporary feel. Warm and cozy inside, yet so open to the wilderness and the ocean outside. Prepare to see deer, eagles, otters, whales and more. Great walks/runs/cycles from the door. A wonderful place to relax and disconnect, (but still with wifi & Netflix.) July 2017
